Travel Resources for Celiacs

These are some of the sites I use in planning my trip to Japan!

• GF Guide Japan has not been updated since 2021 but it’s worth a skim anyway as some information remains pertinent.
• Celiac Travel has translation cards explaining celiac disease. I used one of theirs when I went to Mexico in 2024.
• Legal Nomads has a fairly extensive guide to eating gluten free in Japan that the author tries to keep updated even though she herself has not been to Japan for several years. I used their restaurant card with pretty good results but ultimately ended up making my own to better explain my cross contact concerns.
• r/celiac and r/glutenfree have a number of restaurant round up posts on them from the last few years – use the search function!
  
  Ultimately, despite a lot of research on my end, I found that the available resources for celiacs in Japan were pretty lacking which is why I wanted to start this blog. The longer I spent in Japan, the better I got at navigating the food system and I expect my next trip to be much easier!
